#OffAssignment Toronto: Privacy and Digital Security at the Border

#OffAssignment Toronto invites you to a hands-on workshop on digital and operational security for journalists whose work involves crossing borders. In recent years, we’ve seen a shift in attitudes and practices at international border crossings. Authorities are more frequently searching and seizing the digital devices we use to do our work, exposing us (and our sources) to ever greater invasions of privacy.
 
In this interactive session, Harlo Holmes from the Freedom of the Press Foundation will walk participants through common scenarios and threat models faced by journalists, researchers, filmmakers and others who engage in similar high-risk work. We’ll learn how to work more securely, how to protect our data, and how to keep our sources, colleagues, and communities safer.
