Open Data Jam #2 - Open Data For Journalism

Open Data Jam #2 - Open Data For Journalism

Metro Hall, Room 308Toronto, ON
Thursday, Feb 26 from 6 pm to 8 pm EST
Overview

Meet the City's Open Data team, see how our friend Matt Elliott uses it, and help make Open Data more useful for journalists!

We're looking to make the City of Toronto's Open Data program more... open!

That means monthly events where you can find us (the Open Data team), Open Data users and enthusiasts, and dedicated public servants fostering and bolstering open data projects and usage.

This month is focused on journalism. We want open data to contribute to a more informed and engaged Toronto, and so want it to be as useful as possible to journalists and everyone else who informs our city!

Here's what's we're thinking for Jam #2:

  1. Program Intro - we'll introduce ourselves and give an overview of the City of Toronto's Open Data program, how it currently runs, and how you can use it!
  2. Guest Presentation From Matt Eliott - you'll hear from Matt Elliott (from City Hall Watcher and The Toronto Star) about how he uses Open Data to inform and bolster his journalism!
  3. Brainstorm and Jam - you'll tell us how the program could be more useful to you, and we'll see how we can help!

We've got the snacks, you've got the data - let's make some magic 🪄
