Open Death Café

Home Hospice Association (HHA)aims to help communities develop resources to care for their dying where ever they call home. Much of the agency’s work also focuses on helping all members of any community die a ‘good death,’ however that may be defined. We believe in normalizing death through education to professionals, children, families, and communities and strive to destigmatize dying and death.

Oakville Public Library - Central Branch

In partnership with Oakville Public Library, and facilitated by Home Hospice Association-trained Death Doula Frauke Anne Stewart, this Open Death Cafe brings people - often strangers - together to discuss death. This event doesn’t have any particular objectives or themes aside from increasing everyone’s awareness of death and exploring our relationships with death, dying and grief.
