After successful showings in the UK, South Africa, Nigeria and Canada, the Open show returns to Edmonton in a classical reimagining of her spoken word album, Swim.About Titilope SonugaThe story of Titilope Sonuga’s emergence as a globally renowned poet, playwright and performer is a testament to the transformative power of storytelling. She is the author of three collections of poetry, Down and has released two spoken word albums. She is a writer who blends a remarkable elegance of craft with an ever-present human quality that carries her words into expansive realms writing plays and scripting campaigns for global brands. She is the 9th Poet Laureate of the City of Edmonton.About MelafriqueMelafrique is an Afro-fusion band formed in Edmonton, Canada in 2016. The name Melafrique is a condensed form of the term &quot;Melanin from Africa&quot;. They play a variety of genres: Jazz, R&amp;B, Reggae, Neo-soul; in combination with different African styles of music. Melafrique hopes to inspire the world with good music. Through music, they express their identities as African people, as Caribbean people , as musicians, and as Edmontonians. The band includes members from Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Angola, Jamaica, and Canada.About Key 30 OrchestraThe Key 30 Orchestra is a Calgary based independent orchestra focused on creating and performing original music, collaborating on progressive projects, and showcasing the dynamic nature of classical music. Our mission is to create work that spans industries, artistic styles and provide our artists with a platform to launch the next generation of greatcomposers and performers.
