Come meet the beekeepers and learn about the Apiary at Ecology Park!
Learn about bee and hive basics, proper beekeeper equipment and what the bees need to stay strong throughout the seasons.
This is a FREE event. Cash donations will be accepted on site that directly support the bee program. Suggested amount $10/adult (kids free!).
There will be two Open Hive Events:
- Saturday, June 20th from 4-5pm
- Saturday, July 18th, from 10-11am
***Note that these events will be repeats, so please only sign up for one.
What to Expect: Please wear long sleeved shirts, closed-toed shoes and socks long enough to tuck your pants into. Please avoid wearing sunglasses and strong scents and be ready for the heat with plenty of sun protection and a waterbottle.
Parking: Please park on the south end of the Beavermead Park parking lot. From there, walk along the Trans Canada Trail until you reach GreenUP Ecology Park. We can meet under the shelter at the picnic tables.
Accessibility: We aim to make these events flexible and inclusive. If you have accessibility needs or concerns, please get in touch with us in advance.
Weather: This event may need to be postponed if raining or heavy winds are forecasted. An email will be sent out the morning of the event in this case.
