Opening Reception: Footsteps Through Time
Step into 13,000 years of movement, connection, and story in the Bow Valley.
Join us for the opening reception of Footsteps Through Time: Human Journeys on the Land, an immersive new exhibition exploring how movement has shaped human life in this region for millennia.
The evening will feature a special talk by archaeologist Christina Clavelle Meyer, who supported the curation of the exhibition. Drawing on her expertise and behind-the-scenes involvement, Christina will share insights into the archaeological evidence, research processes, and interpretive decisions that helped bring this exhibition to life - offering a deeper perspective on how we understand human presence and movement on this land over thousands of years.
Footsteps Through Time traces the story of human journeys in the Bow Valley from the retreat of massive ice sheets that first opened travel routes, to the enduring seasonal movements of Indigenous Peoples. Through interactive displays, archaeological findings, and Indigenous ways of knowing, the exhibition reveals a layered and ongoing story of connection across time, distance, and cultures.
Guests are invited to explore the exhibition throughout the evening, engaging with hands-on elements, artifacts, and storytelling features that bring these histories into focus. Whether following ancient pathways, examining traces left in the landscape, or reflecting on your own experiences of movement and place, the exhibition offers opportunities for both discovery and personal connection.
Light refreshments will be provided, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.
We look forward to welcoming you for an evening of conversation, learning, and celebration as we open this new exhibition together.
