Bios:

Carla-Grace Catala

Italian-Canadian Soprano Carla-Grace Catala was raised in a musical family dating back to her great grandfather who was a musician and opera lover. As music filtered through the family for generations to come, Carla-Grace was exposed to many genres of music including opera, pop and musical theatre; thus began her musical journey. Carla-Grace earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts specializing in Music from the University of Toronto, an Associate of The Royal Conservatory (ARCT) diploma in Voice Performance, the highest academic standing awarded by The Royal Conservatory of Music and an Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Music Education from The Royal Conservatory of Music in partnership with Ryerson University. Past roles include Frasquita (Carmen), Giannetta (L’Elisir d’Amore), Stella (A Tale of Two Cities) Zerlina (Don Giovanni) Carla-Grace has been described as a “fabulous lyric soprano voice capable of many colours” and her “stage presence and characterization is exceptional.” -(Victoria Holland).

Diego Catala

Based in the GTA, Argentine/Canadian baritone, Diego Catalá is an alumnus of the prestigious Glenn Gould school of the Royal Conservatory of music. Diego has been praised by Opera Canada on numerous occasions with “his warm attractive sound” and “his powerful vocals” (Opera Canada 2017) and as “a standout” (Opera Canada 2018) in his portrayal of Count Almaviva in Opera York’s production of The Marriage of Figaro. Most recently Mr. Catalá performed his singature role giorgio Germont (la traviata)and was quoted by Ópera Canada as “one of the highlights of the performance”. Diego has performed in renowned halls such as Koerner Hall, Carnegie Hall and Teatro Magnani where Giuseppe Verdi frequently conducted in Fidenza, Italy. His roles include: Count Almaviva (Marriage of Figaro), Marquis (The Widow), Marcello (La Boheme), The Naturalist (James Bond: A Covienient Lie), Capellio (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), Q (James Bond: A Convienent Lie), Triquet (Los Gavilanes), Bardolfo (Falstaff), Frank Maurant ( Street Scene), El Rey (Gato con botas) Marryman (Ernest, the importance of being), Belcore (L’elisir d’amore), Ragman (Louise), Escamillo (Carmen), Caballero de Gracia (La Gran Via), Germont (La Traviata), Felipe (La Revoltosa), Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni), Ernest (Le Laureat), Mercurio (La Calisto), and Papageno (The Magic Flute).

Brahm Goldhamer (Pianist)

Brahm Goldhamer is one of Toronto’s most experienced and respected accompanists and vocal coaches. He has performed across Canada, the U.S. and Europe, and is in great demand as a recital collaborator with some of Canada’s most celebrated soloists. For thirty-eight years he was a faculty member of the Royal Conservatory of Music and the Glenn Gould School, where in addition to his studio coaching and classroom teaching, he was the principal répétiteur of the Spring Opera Program. His performances include work with Opera in Concert, Toronto Operetta Theatre, CBC’s Music Around Us, the Elora Festival, Debut Atlantic. He was nominated for a Dora Award for Best Musical Direction following his work with Comus Music Theatre. Mr. Goldhamer worked in Italy as music director and vocal coach in a variety of educational settings and summer music festivals, including “Oberlin at Casalmaggiore” and “Flagstaff in Fidenza. ” For forty years he worked as choral director at various Toronto synagogues
