About this event

Together with our partners, the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) is rallying members of Ontario’s fire services and fire-safety stakeholders to join us for Operation SAFER. (Smoke Alarms For Every Residence). This summit will provide delegates with tools and resources to effect behaviour change and heighten awareness among Ontarians about the vital role working smoke alarms play in reducing fire deaths and injuries.

Last year, Ontario suffered 133 fire-related fatalities, the worst in decades, including the tragic loss of young children and families. Many of the fatal fires across the province had a commonality - they occurred in homes that lacked working smoke alarms. It's clear that fire safety messages related to having working smoke alarms in every residence needs to reach all Ontarians.
