Oshkabewis Program – Spring Gathering
An Indigenous land-based learning journey focused on Fire teachings, ceremony support, and community responsibility.
Odeiwin invites Indigenous community members to join the Oshkabewis Program through a seasonal, land-based helper journey rooted in responsibility, humility, service, and relationship with the Fire.
This program is intended for individuals who feel called to deepen their understanding of ceremony, community, and sacred responsibility through hands-on experience and consistent participation over time.
Rather than following a rigid curriculum, participants learn through observation, helping, reflection, and experiential learning alongside ceremony helpers and knowledge carriers.
This Spring Gathering may include teachings connected to:
• Fire teachings and the role of the Fire Keeper
• Roles and responsibilities of ceremonial helpers
• Wood preparation and preparing the “home for the Grandfathers”
• Smudging, setting the Fire, and caring for sacred spaces
• Clan teachings, responsibility, and community care
Participants will continue learning through observation, helping, reflection, and hands-on experience throughout the seasons.
This program is not about learning to conduct ceremony.
It is about building respectful relationships with the Fire, the land, community, and ourselves through consistency, humility, and service.
