Join us for THEATRE, MUSICALS, AND MOVEMENT! Page 1 Entertainment will be celebrating our 5th season this September, and we will be kicking things off with our annual festival, OutFest. The show features three OneAct plays, two movement pieces, and three musical numbers in one 85 minute performance. Many of the pieces featured at OutFest reflect our mandate which is to source stories that explore the definition of identity through gender, race, sexuality, and or ethnicity. Join us this September for an evening of laughter, music, movement, and thought-provoking pieces that reflect our current community.

 ONE ACTS PLAYS TITLE: The Frog King Length: 20 mins Written and Directed by: Erika Ressor The Frog King features a committed lesbian couple, Danny and Mia. One morning while Danny is at work, Mia discovers a prescription for testosterone. What follows is a heartfelt, and sometimes uncomfortable conversation between Mia and Danny about the choices we make, and who gets to make which choices. The Frog King has had a successful tour this summer and has been featured as part of the Hamilton Fringe (Hamilton Ont.), Gay Play Day (Toronto, Ont.), and HamilTen festival (Hamilton, Ont.) this summer.

 TITLE: Futch/Bemme Length: 20 mins Created and Performed by: Kira Meyers-Guiden Futch/ Bemme is a one-woman show about Alex, who is in a dressing room talking with her sister Gina while trying to find an appropriate outfit for their mother’s wedding. As Alex tries on the clothes there is a discomfort not only with the clothing but with herself. Each outfit brings Alex to a point in her life where her gender presentation and sexual orientation came into question and how that experience has shaped who she is now. The piece explores how identity sometimes lives in a grey area and how the path of self-acceptance is always an ongoing conversation. Futch/ Bemme is about expanding the definition of lesbianism, complicating the relationship between gender and sexuality and how we perform both of those identities. 
Note: This piece contains a character in partial underwear/bra for brief periods of time.
 
 TITLE: Family Dinner Length: 20 mins Written and Directed by: Jeff Fox Family Dinner is a comedy that puts a twist on the classic story of a young gay couple who invite their parents to dinner. Matty and Evan have invited their parents on what we think may be a coming-out story, but is nothing of the sort. This comedy hits in all the right places and teaches us that change sometimes comes to us, and sometimes, we must pursue it.

 MOVEMENT PIECES Choreographed by: Jeff Fox Beautiful Things - a solo movement piece by Jeff Fox which celebrates the inherent beauty in all of us which we are all so quick to overlook, doubt, hideaway. Love is Love - a group movement piece demonstrating the universality of love and connection. Love doesn't depend on gender, race, age, height, or hair colour. It's in all of us, it's something we all share.
