Pacific Seaweed Summit
Developing a thriving BC seaweed sector held fast by community values!
The Pacific Seaweed Summit presents a valuable opportunity for researchers, industry professionals, Indigenous leaders, government representatives and community members to come together. It serves as a platform to establish a solid foundation for responsible growth in the sector, fostering collaboration, innovation and long-term stewardship.
The inaugural Pacific Seaweed Summit will be held in Campbell River from May 6-8.
This event is co-hosted by North Island College (NIC), Wei Wai Kum First Nation (WWK), Heiltsuk Climate Action (HCA) and Pacific Seaweed Industry Association (PSIA).
Our focus for this summit is to:
- Uphold the sector’s responsibility toward economic reconciliation while honouring Indigenous self-determination
- Learn from each other and create common understanding of the current state of the sector
- Identify gaps within the sector and effective paths forward in key sector areas;
- Products, processing and market fit
- Standards, policy and environmental Impact
- Workforce and training
- Build sector connections and capacity
What does my ticket include?
- Full access to Welcome event at the Wei Wai Kum Big House and summit sessions at NIC, including plenaries, breakouts and workshops
- Wednesday: Refreshments and lunch at WWK Big House
- Thursday: Breakfast, refreshments, lunch and dinner at NIC
- Friday: Breakfast and refreshments at NIC
- Optional registration for Business to Business Networking Event and Public Engagement event at the TideMark Theatre
Are there discounts available?
- Student and Indigenous pricing options available
- There are travel bursaries available to Indigenous members. Email pacificseaweedsummit@nic.bc.ca to learn more and apply

Refund Policy
Registration cancellations are permitted until 23:59 Pacific Time on March 31st, 2026. Registrants will receive a full refund less a $50 administrative fee. Cancellation requests must be submitted via email to pacificseaweedsummit@nic.bc.ca with order number/ID. Registrants who cancel after the cancellation deadline are ineligible for a refund; however, transfer of registration is permitted. This policy does not apply to complimentary registrations.
Transfer of Registration
Registrants wishing to transfer their registration to another person must submit their order number/ID along with the name and contact details of their replacement via email to pacificseaweedsummit@nic.bc.ca. (This policy does not apply to complimentary registrations).
