Giganwenimaanaanig + CHRR Presents: "Gender-Based Violence and Displacement: The Human Cost of War, Colonialism, and the Climate Crisis"

In honour of International Women's Day, the Centre for Human Rights Research (University of Manitoba) and Giganwenimaanaanig are honoured to collaborate on a panel discussion titled "Gender-Based Violence and Displacement: The Human Cost of War, Colonialism, and the Climate Crisis."

This discussion will explore gender-based violence in the context of conflict, structural violence, and displacement. The conversation will be rooted in the love -- love for the lands, waters, and our relations -- and the ways that this love can sustain us.

This conversation will be moderated by Brenda Gunn (Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Manitoba) who is an Expert Member of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, 2026-28.

The panel discussion will take place in Ilipvik (the Learning Steps) at WAG-Qaumajuq. Doors open at 12:30pm with light snacks and refreshments in Ilavut, followed by the panel discussion beginning at 1:00pm.
