Things that impact us and the world around us profoundly, that demand change, that threaten to uproot what we love and need, can be difficult to talk about. This is true about the Climate Crisis. Yet, one of the most significant things we can do to begin facing the threat is to talk about it!
With Kitchen Table Climate Conversations (KTCC’s), we suggest that you reach out and gather people round your virtual table for an open but structured conversation about climate justice. To help empower these conversations, ClimateFast is running a series of KTCC webcasts on Monday nights throughout March - the 1st, 15th, 29th and April 12th between 7-9pm.
In this, the third webcast of the series, we focus on how to take the Kitchen Table Climate Conversation online and will learn about the technical aspects of running conversations. There will be time to ask questions! In the second portion, we’ll hear some stories about how holding conversations has gone for people and what they’ve learned.
We’ve divided the technical workshop into two parts, first covering what you may need to know to hold a simple conversation and then, what you may wish to add for a more complex one.
For a simple conversation we’ll cover what’s listed below and more!
Schedule your Zoom conversation and send invitations.
Prepare a presenter checklist and cue presenter slides.
Customize a Zoom waiting room message and admit participants.
Work with Youtube videos and MP4 files.
Set up Zoom polls and breakout rooms.
Manage the Zoom conversation, including moderating chat.
For a more complex conversation, we’ll take a more involved look at many of the aspects above, cover what’s listed below and more!
What is a Contacts List? What is a Master Schedule?
Potential additional tools, including Eventbrite, Youtube live stream, and closed captioning.
How to survey your participants and why you may want to consider what lessons you’ve learned at the end of your conversation.
Once registered, you will receive a zoom link prior to the event.
