Peace
Join us for an inspiring evening of choral artistry as The King's Alumni and Community Chorus presents Peace — a concert that reflects on serenity, hope, and the quiet strength that music brings to our lives.
At the heart of the program is Franz Schubert’s luminous Mass in G, a work of radiant simplicity and heartfelt devotion. Composed when Schubert was just eighteen, this beloved masterpiece blends graceful lyricism with moments of profound stillness and joy. Its intimate beauty and expressive warmth make it one of the most cherished works in the sacred choral repertoire — a timeless meditation on faith and tranquility.
In meaningful contrast, we are proud to present the choral premiere of The Snowman by Canadian composer Kristin Flores. This enchanting new work captures the wonder and gentle magic of winter with vivid musical storytelling, The Snowman invites listeners into a world of imagination and nostalgia — a reminder of the simple, peaceful moments that connect us across generations.
The performance also features the shimmering tones of Jubiloso Handbells, Lorne Mannweiller on organ, and guest soloists Kimberley Denis, Melanie Turgeon, Charles Stolte, and Michael Kurschat, whose artistry brings depth and brilliance to this moving program.
From Schubert’s timeless sacred beauty to the fresh voice of a contemporary premiere, Peace is a celebration of community, collaboration, and the enduring power of music to calm, uplift, and inspire.
We look forward to sharing this meaningful afternoon with you.
