During International Development Week 2018, join the <A HREF="https://www.ocic.on.ca" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ontario Council for International Cooperation</A>, the <A HREF="https://ymcagta.org" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">YMCA of Greater Toronto</A>, <A HREF="http://www.canadianfeedthechildren.ca/what/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAtJbTBRDkARIsAIA0a5NTBBI11kTT2xRYnT2kLSFbqan8ZAfqeMRrvkjvdEMQ1sxuGPHvf5saAkhuEALw_wcB" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Canadian Feed The Children </A>and photographer <A HREF="http://www.praxispictures.org/featured-projects" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Allan Lissner</A> in a lunch-time presentation featuring Allan's ongoing documentary work on Indigenous Rights issues within Canada, and globally.
This event will include highlights from OCIC's <A HREF="http://www.ocic.on.ca/what-we-do/influence-by-informing/transformations2018/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Transformations: Stories of Partnership, Resilience and Positive Change</A> collaborative photojournalism initiative, which is intended to support a new narrative on partnerships, solidarity and sustainable change. This year Transformations features the work of Canadian Feed The Children, Neyaashiinigmiing, Eel Ground First Nation, Garden Hill First Nation and Aki Foods in addressing food sovereignty challenges, supporting community-led initiatives, and working towards holistic community health.
Allan Lissner is a Danish-Filipino-Canadian photographer and filmmaker who was raised in Ethiopia, Liberia, USA, Nepal, Lithuania, Denmark, Jordan, Bangladesh and Canada.
For the past ten years Allan has been working on collaborative multimedia projects with indigenous communities, documenting their efforts to protect their territories and preserve their ways of life. This ongoing work includes projects with over a dozen communities in the Philippines, Guatemala, Tanzania, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Chile and Canada.
Some of the organizations Allan has done work with include 350.org, Amnesty International, GlobalAware, Idle No More, the Indigenous Environmental Network, KAIROS, Oxfam, Make Poverty History, the Norwegian Church Aid, the Ontario Council for International Cooperation, the United Nations Development Program, and the United Nations Women’s Association in Bangladesh.
When: Friday, February 9th from 11:00AM-12:30PM Where: 2200 Yonge St. Toronto, ON, M4S 2C6 3rd Floor, UMOJA Room. 
This venue is wheelchair accessible and LGBTQ positive. 
This event is free, and light refreshments will be provided. Register now, as space is limited.
