Come join us for a workshop where you will create a mug and decorated with Sha from Dont Yuck my yum Studios!
The things you use every day should be special and personal to you! a mug you made yourself that reminds you of something special or funny or self-affirming? Let’s make that mug together at this workshop! This workshop will take you through each step of making your own clay mug: from handbuilding and sculpting to decorating it with your own original drawings. You will learn basic techniques — primarily slab work — and how to use the score-and-slip method to construct a functional ceramic piece that you will paint and personalize using underglaze designs.
Most importantly, it will be something that represents your own touch. You will be provided with all the necessary materials, and will leave this workshop with a date to pick up your mug once it has been glazed and fired for you. The mugs will be ready in 4–6 weeks, and pick up will be at Bazaar.
The workshop will be led by Sha, who runs Don’t Yuck My Yum Studio. Sha is a ceramic artist who uses clay as both creative expression and healing practice. She uses pop culture references in her clay works making them whimsical, light hearted. Through her practice, she creates space for others to slow down, connect, and find joy in making.
