About this event
Between January and April 2021, ten student designers worked directly with the technical and business leads of ten Canadian companies to explore and develop a new methodology for connecting design to Internet startups. Designers considered existing design gaps, perform user interface/usability studies, and develop design strategies for the companies in residence.
On April 8, each designer will give a 5-minute presentation summarizing the work they concluded with the participating Canadian startup companies.
Spring 2021 company-student partnerships are:
Zahra Jalali and Appara, Binoodha Kunnath and Discover My Franchise, Bea Ilagan and GameJobs.Ninja, Amber Ko and Kai Analytics and Survey Research, Colby May and KIT Research, Kimia Gholami and Machinery Analytics, Joshua Louie and Nava Ventures, Alex Livsey and Smart Athlete Manager (SAM), Fyonna Laddaran and TalentMarketplace, Diane Shin and Vivo Team
Realized with support from Digital Technology Supercluster and Innovate BC.
About Design for Startups
Design for Startups is a unique program in which student designers join early-stage company teams to work on a specific design problem.
Through this initiative, we have developed and tested a new model for connecting the art and design university with early-to-mid stage companies through accelerators and VC-backed portfolios.
