Réseau ACCESS Network is thrilled to announce a Virtual Community Pride Breakfast. Join us from the comfort of your home in a conversation with S. Bear Bergman and Sara from Safer Spaces as we discuss welcoming your trans of nonbinary colleagues and the importance of creating inclusive workplaces for folks from 2S-LGBTQ+ community.ABOUT OUR SPEAKERSS. Bear Bergman is the author of nine books, founder of Flamingo Rampant press, and frequent consultant in equity and inclusion to business and government. Bear began his work in equity at the age of 15, as a founding member of the first ever Gay/Straight Alliance and has continued to help organizations and institutions move further along the pathways to justice ever since. Bear’s work in equity education has brought him to sporting arenas, field offices in actual fields, code-named government buildings in unplottable locations, and many unremarkable boardrooms in which great and lasting change has begun and continued. These days Bear spends his time making trans cultural competency interventions however he can, and trying to avoid stepping on his children’s Lego."WELCOMING YOUR TRANS OR NONBINARY COLLEAGUE"An overview of the top three things anyone can do to improve a sense of safety and belonging in their school, workplace, or organization for trans and nonbinary people. We will cover the critical concept and then follow up with specific and practical steps you can take to create a positive environment for work, study, or recreation."

Sara Runions (they/them) identifies as a queer, bisexual, and nonbinary person. Sara has backgrounds in experimental psychology, research, education, and community engagement. In 2021 they joined the Safer Spaces program hosted under Réseau ACCESS Network. Their goals are to educate and engage others in discussions of 2S-LGBTQ+ inclusion and to help businesses, organizations, and agencies build safer, more inclusive environments.

Creating Safer Spaces: Benefits, Barriers, and Next StepsSara will provide information about the Safer Spaces program and the variety of services it offers. They will discuss the need for tangible 2S-LGBTQ+ inclusion efforts, identify common barriers to accessibility for 2S-LGBTQ+ community members, and provide some easily implementable first steps to get you and your organization started.
