Ptarmageddon
Get ready for a wild ride at Ptarmageddon where chaos meets fun and surprises are around every corner!
Ptarmageddon is an alternative rock band based in Labrador City, formed by Scott Neary (guitar, vocals), Jenn Edwards (keys, vocals), and Matt Soper (percussion, vocals). Their genre-bending, harmony-rich sound has earned the group four Music NL Award nominations to date, including two for Alternative Group of the Year. The trio came together in 2021 as a pandemic project, live-streaming concerts from their living rooms. When venues opened back up, they began playing their acoustic covers in local bars. Their first EP of original music, Holding Pattern, (2021) is nostalgic and playful, reminiscent of Mother Mother, Weezer, and The Barenaked Ladies. The band released a second EP, Dream Logic, in November, 2022, exploring new sonic territory and darker themes, while staying playful and light-hearted. Ptarmageddon has toured Arts & Culture Centres across Newfoundland, played the opening ceremonies at the Labrador Winter Games, opened for The Derina Harvey Band, and showcased at East Coast Music Awards in Halifax. They’ve been featured on two "Labrador Mixtape" albums, and their 90’s inspired pop rock single, “Gravity Party” was the theme song for a Vancouver-based community radio show. They have also collaborated with Brad Dillon on three music videos, all showcasing Labrador City locations including Smokey Mountain and The Kash Nightclub. Their video “Nightmare Song,” was nominated for Video of the Year by Music NL.
