Moving to a new community is challenging and often isolating and lonely. New Westminster is a great community, full of welcoming and warm individuals, but it can be hard to meet new people. New Roots is committed to helping people moving to town create connections and really become part of this city that we love to call home.What to expect at a New Roots Event?There will be some conversation prompts to help you start talking and find common interests with other attendees. There will be a short presentation about what this community has to offer. There will be some small group discussions to share information among each other. We will have a Q and A period to get your questions answered. You will then be able to stick around and socialize with other attendees and hopefully end up starting to now see some friendly, familiar faces around town.Where and when will this take place?Union Jack Public House: 525 Seventh St, New Westminster, BC V3M 3L6 on June 1 at 7pm. Please try to be a couple minutes early so we can get you a name tag.New Westminster is located on the unceded territories of the Qayqayt First Nation and other Coast Salish peoples. Through generations of policy and erasure their contributions to and history on this land have been made invisible. New Roots is committed to ongoing learning so we can strive to be part of repairing this heartbreaking piece of our community&#x27;s history.Cost?There is no cost to attend the event, however each person will be expected to cover the cost of any food or beverages that they order.
