The Indigenous Education Network (IEN) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto is a group of students, faculty, staff and community members who share a common commitment to and passion for Indigenous education and research.

A publishing workshop with PFAU and Crystal Garvey, hosted by the Indigenous Network, OISE.

The Indigenous Education Network will be hosting a publishing workshop on Tuesday, May 10th from 1-3pm EST facilitated by academic writing coach and editor, Lisa Pfau and invited guest PhD candidate Crystal Garvey.The aim of this workshop is to help graduate students overcome barriers by providing an overview of the publishing process, as well as some tricks and tips to make publishing their work more accessible. We will be discussing:- What to expect from the publication process- Strategies for getting your work out there- Tips for organizing your ideas &amp; writing flow- Staying motivated after rejection*The first 15 students to register will receive a writing package.About The FacilitatorLisa Pfau is the founder and CEO of PFAU: Academic writing, editing, and coaching. She has over 20 years’ experience helping students to improve their writing skills in academic and professional settings, as well as editing/writing academic, policy, and professional documents and reports. She enjoys encouraging clients to inject creativity into their writing process to increase engagement and make writing enjoyable. She loves seeing her students grow in confidence as young writers and enrich the world with their unique perspectives and styles. About The Invited GuestCrystal Garvey, is a PhD candidate at Queen’s University. Her doctoral research Titled: ‘Student Nurses Outcomes to Bullying Mediated by Self-Efficacy’, is about developing a theoretical model, ascertaining how bullying can impact students in the clinical practice environment mediated by the attribute of self-efficacy. Crystal has 20 years of nursing experience with her area of expertise being Emergency and Mental Health Nursing. Presently, she is a full-time faculty member at Durham College teaching in the collaborative BScN program, with Ontario Tech University. Currently, she is an executive member of the Black Student Success Network at Durham college, an Equity and Diversity Steward for OPSEU Local 354, and Co-Chair of the Provincial Women Committee Member for OPSUE - Region 3 and serves on the Research and Ethics Board.
