Description
This workshop will teach you how to make pysanky: beautiful Easter eggs decorated using a traditional Ukrainian resist-dye technique. Experienced instructors will guide you through all the steps of transforming a plain egg into your very own work of art, while explaining the pysanka's symbols, cultural context, and lore.
Bring a pencil and an egg carton to bring your creation home. All other supplies will be provided, and no previous experience is necessary. This workshop is suitable for adults as well as kids age 7 and up. Come try your hand at this meditative craft: It's easier than you think!
Instructor bio: Marichka Galadza is a cofounder of kosa kolektiv, a Toronto-area folk arts collective. She is grateful to her parents and grandparents for passing on many beautiful traditions from their native Ukraine.
