Python For Scientific Concordians

With credits from the Graduate Community Building Fund, we offer a series of 7 workshops for Graduate Students of Concordia University Only, running from May 23rd to July 4th. A 3hr workshop on the Python programming language will be given every Monday for 7 weeks. Thereby, all workshops are mandatory when reserving a spot to partake in these workshops.
<H2 CLASS="MsoNoSpacing">There is a limited amount of space to partake in this workshop, therefore, we will be conducting a selection process based on the answers you provide in the registration form. We will select applicants that will benefit the most from the workshops. </H2>
These workshops are geared towards graduate students that have little to no experience in programming, but wish to apply automated computing skills to tackle biological questions. Through the series, you can expect to learn about using different Python libraries (NumPy, SciPy, and Biopython) to do various analyses such as; Parsing DNA data files, performing sequence alignments, performing population genetic analyses, building your own text mining script, and handling Next-Generation Sequencing data.
We are looking for individuals that are passionate and ready to learn. These are introductory workshops to Python language and may not be appropriate for advanced programmers.
