Michael Bolton — co-creator, with James Bach — of the Rapid Software Testing (RST) methodology — presents RST classes at home in Toronto, live and in person. What's happening? RST is a context-driven approach for testing any product that includes or involves software. The approach has been applied by testers all over the world in all kinds of sectors: banking, insurance, medical devices, automotive, engineering...RST is designed to be the fastest, least expensive testing that completely fulfills the mission: exposing risk and finding problems before it's too late.Rapid Software Testing Explored is a three-day class that introduces the methodology. Through hands-on activities and interactive discussion, we challenge assumptions and expose common misconceptions about software testing. Then we show you powerful new ways to think, to apply heuristic models, and to test responsibly and systematically. RST helps you to focus on business risk and — when necessary — to do the kinds of deep testing that your project needs.RST Explored is followed, this time, by Rapid Software Testing Focused: Automation (RSTF:A), a new one-day workshop to help you develop strategy for applying tools effectively while avoiding the traps.Who should come? Both classes are designed for everyone on a development team who needs to think critically about software: testers, developers, managers, designers, documenters, support people... Even marketers have attended RST classes and have benefitted from them! Can I take one or the other, but not both? Yes. you're welcome to attend either class on its own. Note, however, that RSTF:A assumes that you already know a fair deal about the RST approach, so if you've never taken an RST class before, we recommend doing RSTE first. Why testing? Why do we test? We test to develop a comprehensive understanding of the product and the risks around it. We test to find problems that threaten the value of the product, or that threaten the on-time, successful completion of any kind of development work. We test to help the business, managers, and developers decide whether the product they’ve got is the product they want.Above all, we test because it is the responsible thing to do. We have a duty of care toward our teams, our organizations, our customers, and society itself. Releasing poorly tested software would be a breach of that duty.Learn more about Rapid Software Testing here, and more about RST Explored here.Learn more about the new Rapid Software Testing Focused: Automation class here.Location and logistics The classes will be held in an accessible training room in downtown Toronto, near Adelaide and York streets.Classes run from 9:00pm to 5:00pm each day, with breaks in the morning and afternoon. Rapid Software Testing Explored - May 27-29, 2024

Testers and Automation: Avoiding the Traps “Test Automation” is a hot topic. If you are in the testing field, then you are being pressured to automate your work. But how should you go about it? There are lots of expensive tools you could use, but there are also free tools. Only certain specific aspects of testing can be automated, so which aspects should you focus on first? Which should you NOT focus on? How can AI help?

This class will help you whether or not you write code. We don’t cover how to code or how to operate any specific tool. Instead, this class is about automation strategy. It’s about vision and setting goals that make sense. Read more at https://developsense.com/rstf-automation
