<H2>Come out for Calgary's first Raspberry Jam! This event is to kickstart Raspberry Jam Calgary -- building a community of Raspberry Pi enthusiasts and makers and promoting computational thinking and hands-on tinkering.</H2>
The goals of Raspberry Jam Calgary are two-fold: one, to form a Pi community in Calgary for enthusiasts to meet and learn from each other; and two, to hold free regular events and expositions in Calgary to promote computational thinking and hands-on tinkering in a fun environment. 
Help build a local community of knowledge and experience and also help inspire and foster the next generation of makers!
<H2>Meet, Greet & JAM</H2>
This free event will be to get to know each other, plan how to grow from here, and also spend some time talking RaspPi. Bring your thoughts on Jams and ideas on the Pi, and bring a small project whether it's one you're willing to show off or one you're working on and would like to discuss.
There will be a Google AIY Voice Kit to group-assemble if there's time and interest. A monitor and keyboard/mouse will be available to use in showing off your project if you need them but feel free to bring your own (don't forget power blocks).
There are a limited number of tickets, due to room capacity.

Who is this event for?
Anyone interested in building a Raspberry Pi community, wanting to help shape future Jams, or just wanting to talk about the Pi.
There are no workshops or guided coding activities in place for this Jam, but watch for the next event already being planned with additional activities specifically aimed not only at enthusiats but also at kids, youth, and newcomers!
Wait, what is a Raspberry Pi? What's a Raspberry Jam?
A Raspberry Pi is a small but complete computer designed to be affordable and easy to learn on. It also provides an easy way to link programming (software) with the outside world through sensors and feedback (hardware), enabling all sorts of real-world applications. A Raspberry Jam is the clever name for any event held where people get together about the Pi. Originating in the U.K., both the Pi and Jams are enjoying increasing popularity around the world. 
Do I need to own or have experience with a Raspberry Pi?
No! Jams are learning and sharing events and newcomers are welcome. This event might not have anything specifically for beginners, but come anyway to find out more and get involved! 
Can I show up late?
Yes! Show up anytime. If you miss the introductions make sure you track the organizer down afterwards! 
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No, although anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and each person attending must be registered. 
Why do I need to register? 
The limited number of tickets is due to room capacity, so we ask that anyone coming please register for a ticket. Adults accompanying youths must have their own ticket. If you do not need your ticket you can give it to someone else in your place, or contact the event organizer to cancel. 
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
There is plenty of parking at the Library and it is not far from Brentwood C-Train station and bus routes 8, 82, 105, and 807. 
What can I bring into the event?
A topic for discussion! A (small) Raspberry Pi project, whether it's complete and working or not! It'd be cool to see and hear what people have done with their Pis. You can have a chance to talk about it if you like, or ask for input if you have something that's challenging you. (All projects must respect property laws and not use software or services that are violating copyrights or trademarks.)
If you'll be bringing a project, please contact the organizer ahead of the event (just so he's aware of expected projects) and arrive between 6:00 and 6:30 to set up if necessary.

Will there be photography?
There might be photos taken during the event, which may be used to promote the Jam and in other promotional materials. If you would like to opt out, please be sure to let the event organiser know.
