Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) is a Pontifical International Catholic Charity whose mandate is to be of “service of fraternal charity to the local Churches most suffering and needy” through information, prayer and action.Founded by Father Werenfried van Straaten in 1947, it helps spiritually and materially, through 23 national offices, including Canada, the Church in distress in more than 139 countries (Annual Report 2019).

Wednesday, November 18, 2020 is #RedWednesday - an annual day to mark the persecution of Christians around the world

The national office of Aid to the Church in Need Canada (ACN) announces that it will be recognizing Red Wednesday for the third consecutive year. November 18th has been chosen. This day, intended as a reminder that in 2020, Christians are still suffering persecution and religious discrimination, will be held in virtual mode, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
