Retail Hackathon

Saint Mary’s newMaster of Science in Computing & Data Analyticsis a 16-month professional graduate program designed to meet the complex challenges associated with Data Analytics. It combines two essential aspects of computing and data analytics:Software design, development, customization, and managementAnalytics and Business intelligence: the acquisition, storage, management, and analysis of huge amounts of data to improve efficiency, innovation, and decision makingEmployment and Social Development Canada (ESDC)delivers a range of programs and services that affect Canadians throughout their lives. The Department provides seniors with basic income security, supports unemployed workers, helps students finance their post-secondary education and assists parents who are raising young children. The Labour Program contributes to social and economic well-being by fostering safe, healthy, fair and inclusive work environments and cooperative workplace relations in the federal jurisdiction. Service Canada helps citizens access ESDC's programs, as well as other Government of Canada programs and services. The organisation continually strives to find ways of improving service delivery, and ensuring citizens have secure access to high quality services.

The retail sector employs more people in the Canadian economy than any other sector, accounting for 12% of our GDP.  Retailers are constantly seeking innovations in highly competitive markets and face numerous challenges:  business optimization, creating meaningful customer experiences, developing online innovations, personalization, logistics ......
Saint Mary's University's MSc in Computing & Data Analytics program is hosting a Retail Hackathon to explore retail-focused innovations.

Our players have been having fun and "dreaming big" since 1976 when Atlantic Lottery started offering lottery games on behalf of the governments of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island. The game options have grown and changed over the years and so has our workforce! Today's Atlantic Lottery has more than 600 employees, who are the heart and soul of our business.  We offer everything from dare-to-dream draw games to online bingo;breakopen tickets to sports wagering; and games in social settings and on the internet.

Hackathon Event Schedule:
Friday - April 13         5pm  - Introduction of the datasets and Ideation
Saturday - April 14     10am  - Development and Mentorship 
Sunday -  April 15       10am-  First round of judging,
                                    1  pm final round. Prizes at 2pm
 
Eligibility
The Hackathon is open to current students enrolled in any post secondary program and early career professionals who graduated within the last 6 months.
