REWIND + REPLAY

Part of the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology at Simon Fraser University, the School for the Contemporary Arts (SCA) offers a dynamic and integrated arts curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate level. Our undergraduate programs in visual culture and performance studies, dance, film, music, theatre, and visual art are focused on developing creative artists and scholars who are equipped to excel in a transforming world.Over its thirty-eight year history, the SCA has produced outstanding alumni who have gone on to play a major role in redefining the arts in Canada. The interdisciplinary MFA program is widely recognized internationally as a unique opportunity where graduate students can explore connections between art forms and develop their own creative voice.

Students had a limited time of three weeks to make a work inspired by the process of rewinding and replaying memories and our unconscious or conscious ability to edit and change our memories; even the location, objects, words, positions of the players and defining elements. This work attempts to look at the complex detailed choreography of the mind which rewinds and replays memories in order to survive. We asked what does this strange projected stage in our mind look and feel like, what are the rules of this space, what are the glitches, how do we jump-cut and edit in this landscape where we rewind and replay our collective and individual memories.INGREDIENTS<ul><li>Moment of physical or design inspired rewind.</li><li>6 Tableaus with punctuation *a slight pause</li><li>Shift the Point of View at least once.</li><li>Reveal the process of editing</li><li>Recycle or incorporate lines, objects or design from the performance of RECORD</li><li>Use of a microphone</li></ul>
