The Great Divide Trail traverses the continental divide between Alberta and British Columbia, wandering through the vast wilderness of the Canadian Rocky Mountains for more than 1100 kilometres. Whether you are planning to hike for a day, a week, or a month, the GDT is one of the most spectacular and challenging long‐distance trails on the planet. The GDT was recently featured in Explore Magazine's article on35 of Canada's Longest Hiking Trails.TheGreat Divide Trail Associationis a not for profit organization dedicated to maintaining, protecting and promoting the Great Divide Trail and with your support, we can preserve the GDT and its wilderness experience for generations to come!  Please considerbecoming a membertoday.  Individual membership is $30/year, a couple is $50/year, Youth under 25 is $0 Annually, Lifetime individual is $100.

Join us as we talk about mitigating the three main natural hazards encountered in the Canadian Rockies: Fire, Snow and Water.

Join us as we talk about strategies for river crossings, dealing with snow or fire closures, and how this can impact your trip. We will also talk about the common sections along the GDT where these hazards occur and some alternatives to mitigate them. This webinar is highly suggested for people heading out for a GDT thru-hike. However, there are several strategies and tips that are applicable to all hikers! The Great Divide Trail Association is a non-profit advocating on behalf of Canada&#x27;s longest hiking trail. We support safe, sustainable usage and are seeking national recognition and protection. Each year we have thousands of volunteer hours along the 1200km of trail.
