Children&#x27;s Mental Health Week/Mental Health Week is an annual event in May, and this year it is from May 4 - 10, 2020. This is an important week where we promote awareness of the presence of mental health challenges throughout child/adulthood, and the need for support and funding for community mental health services. The Run for Change event during CMHW/MHW is a movement to raise awareness on mental health and addictions and to stop the stigma that is associated with it. The event encourages infants, children, youth and adults to take care of their mental and physical health, by promoting the connection of having a healthy mind. Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19 and government guidelines, Strong Minds is making a change to this year’s Run for Change. Instead of having the large gathering at our familiar spot at The Roberta Bondar Pavilion, we will be conducting a virtual event!All you need for this virtual experience is your running shoes and your phone. You can use your favourite app or tracking software and after you completed a 5K route of your choice you would post your results on the event Facebook page “3rd Annual Run for Change Virtual Style” and your own social media profiles using #StrongMindsR4C. The location is now just around your own neighbourhood, your backyard, a treadmill or a nearby trail instead of the original location- The Roberta Bondar Pavilion. You have from 9am up until 5 o’clock that day to participate and upload your information.ALL PROCEEDS from this year’s Run for Change will be donated to mental health initiatives in Sault Ste.Marie. Pita Pit Second Line West will be giving out FREE smoothies the day of the event to all participants. They just need to show their registration form. PRIZES TO BE WON!!Local businesses have donated to this event as well which is so amazing considering how a lot of businesses are impacted by this pandemic. Strong Minds needs the support from the people in our community in order to make this a success! #SaultStrong**We still need to respect social distancing when participating in this event as well as receiving your FREE smoothie**
