Science Communication 101 Workshop

The Toronto Science Policy Network aims to provide a platform for students (graduate and undergraduate) as well as Post Doctoral researchers at the University of Toronto to learn more about and engage in science policy.

<A HREF="https://toscipolicynet.ca/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Toronto Science Policy Network</A>'s next workshop is about Science Communication, which will be led by <A HREF="https://scigirlsash.wordpress.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sasha Weiditch</A>, who is a UTM PhD candidate and Science Communicator. She will lead participants through the basics of science communication, and how to make science accessible for a general audience. Participants will then have the chance to practice science communication in activities during the workshop and receive feedback from the workshop instructor. 
This event is made possible through funding from the UTM Office of the Vice-Principal Academic and Dean. By registering and/or attending this event you agree to follow and observe TSPN's code of conduct (below). 
 
About Sasha:
<A HREF="https://scigirlsash.wordpress.com/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sasha Weiditch</A> is a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto Mississauga's Department of Biology. Sasha is involved in science communication through social media, her 5+ years of teaching experience, and various public outreach events. Sasha is passionate about making science accessible for everyone and has given talks with Soapbox Science, <A HREF="https://www.rciscience.ca/events-1/scigirlsash" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Royal Canadian Institute of Science</A> and <A HREF="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxuBFIMzM1c" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">TEDx UofT</A>.
 
Code of Conduct
TSPN is dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We do not tolerate harassment of event participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any TSPN activities, including talks, workshops, parties, Twitter, and other online media. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or asked to leave the event at the discretion of the conference organisers.
