Cosmic Fishing Theatre is a professional experimental company, proudly based in the Waterloo Region since 2015. We stage plays and create extraordinary events for adults, youth, and very young children with a mission to serve a truly intercultural and intergenerational audience. A new devised theatre performance, on film.

SHADED is a Theatre Mada and Cosmic Fishing Theatre workshop production, presented in association with MT Space.What is SHADED about?Superstitions exist universally across cultures and persist throughout generations. They are often passed down through oral traditions. Their origins tend to be murky, and they typically evolve as time passes and societies shift. Based around Arab-Islamic superstitions and explored through the lens of magical realism, shadow puppetry, and mime performance, SHADED asks: How do superstitions, as cultural phenomena, drive us to think, act, and feel in strange ways today? What are the parallels between tradition and superstition?

Event DetailsThis iteration of SHADED will be presented online, as a 90-minute event, that includes the filmed workshop performance of the play (captured at The Registry Theatre in Kitchener, ON), along with a curated conversation with the artists.
