Did you know that trees don't die of old age?How often is a mature tree removed unnecessarily? Our guest speaker estimates it's close to 50%!Join us for an in-depth workshop with Ben Krawec from "Branch Out Tree Care" on shrub and tree care that discusses how trees actively shape their environment and their inherent and utilitarian value. This workshop will include a short walk in the surrounding neighborhood to find real examples of the concepts being discussed.<h4>Topics covered will include:</h4>Basic tree anatomy/biology, water and soil, five things trees do with their resources, tree energy budget, pruning — how trees respond to being wounded, pruning schedule, what homeowners can do on their own, how to pick a tree, irrigation, how to think like a tree, mulch and alternatives to turf, height management, and more.Bring your specific shrub and tree pictures and questions for a Q&amp;A session at the end.
