Event description

Description

On May 3, Sidewalk Toronto will host its second in a series of public roundtable meetings to share updates on our plans to create a new kind of neighbourhood taking shape on Toronto’s waterfront.

Working alongside Toronto residents, we are exploring new ideas for creating a healthier, more inclusive, and sustainable approach to urban living.

During this second roundtable meeting, participants will:

  • Hear what we learned during the first roundtable discussion in March.
  • Take a more detailed look at the work underway.
  • Examine the site and weigh the implications of different priorities.
  • Review our updated approach to data privacy.
  • Learn about some exciting new local partnerships.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. We will host two identical 45-minute presentations: one at 6 p.m. and one at 7:30 p.m. Each presentation will include at least 15 minutes of open Q&A. In between these presentations, participants will have the chance to join small, facilitated group discussions. We encourage you to arrive in advance of a presentation or stay after a presentation to talk with our team members.

You do not need a ticket to attend this free event! However, if you are planning to attend, we would be grateful if you would sign up. This way, we make sure we have enough seats and can notify you if there are any changes to the event.

Livestream: Those who can't attend in person can also follow the event online via the Sidewalk Toronto YouTube and Facebook pages. We will also post any presentation material at the Sidewalk Toronto website after the event.

What is the agenda for the meeting?

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

At 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., there will be identical 45-minute presentations by several members of the Sidewalk Toronto team.

These presentations will include 15-minute Q&A sessions.

Throughout the evening, you’ll have a chance to join small, facilitated group discussions. Members of the Sidewalk Toronto team will also be available to discuss the project and answer your questions.

Why is it called a public roundtable meeting and not a town hall?
We're calling this a roundtable meeting because you'll have the chance to join small facilitated group discussions throughout the evening. This format allows far more people to speak at once and allows facilitators to ask follow-up questions and document the comments they receive. We encourage you to arrive in advance of a presentation or stay after a presentation in order to participate in one of these roundtable discussions.

What will future roundtable meetings address and when will they happen?
We have tried to time the public roundtable meetings during key phases in the development of the Master Innovation and Development Plan. With each meeting, the level of detail will increase as we assess the feasibility of different concepts and consider feedback from members of the public, as well as our stakeholders and external advisors. We will provide more detail about the exact topics to be discussed at each meeting as the process unfolds.

  • Meeting 1: Tuesday, March 20, 5 - 9 p.m. (full event video)
Room 106/107, Metro Toronto Convention Centre North, 255 Front St W
  • Meeting 2: Thursday, May 3, 5:30 - 9 p.m.
Daniels Spectrum, 585 Dundas St E
  • Meeting 3: Wednesday, July 11
  • Meeting 4: Wednesday, October 3

How else can I get involved?
