Slow Curious: Mark Making

It begins with personal and collective agency, with the decision(s) that we make to seek community, support, and space. It feels important to describe and recognize creativity as more than an art-related process, but also a way that we can live, imagine, understand, and create change in our lives.

HEY SHAUNA ART THERAPY

This is an online group workshop  - with a focus on SLOW art-making.

<p>This workshop is part of an ongoing gaggle of groups that I'm running under an umbrella of SLOW CURIOUS. </p><p>These will be 2-hour workshops, focused on SLOW... literally making art slowly, together (in the ways that we can make/do things together these days, online). I will list the art materials that you'll want to gather for each workshop, we will always start with a check-in and some chatting, a bit of movement (sometimes standing, sometimes sitting, never difficult), music &amp; art-making, and a final check-in where we can share a bit about the process (chatting/sharing is always optional). </p><p>__________________________</p><p>In this workshop we'll be exploring mark-making with a light touch, slow, less controlled... holding our materials differently, travelling across the page differently. </p><p><strong>A few notes</strong>: </p><ul><li><a href="https://www.thetimezoneconverter.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Time zone converter</a> for those of you in other parts of the world!</li><li>The group will be small (max 11 people), and interactive.</li><li>Because all sessions will be held online (on Zoom), I will not be providing art materials, please see below for suggestions of materials to gather! (I also have lots of suggestions on the <a href="https://heyshauna.com/art-materials/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Art Materials page of my website</a>). </li><li>Registration is open to adults only (18+). </li></ul><p>________________________________________________________________</p><h2>MATERIALS LIST </h2><ul><li>Multiple sheets of watercolour or mixed media paper (not large sheets, as you'll be creating a sort of grid, nudging them up against each other edge-to-edge). Minimum of 4 sheets, up to as many as you'd like to use &amp; have space for. I suggest masking tape to attach them to your surface and each other. Your grid can end up being rectangular, though it doesn't NEED to be, see what feels good for you. </li><li>Watercolour paints (any sort). </li><li>Paint brushes, jar of water, damp rags. </li></ul><p><strong>AND, </strong>any assortment of the following (you do NOT need all of these): </p><ul><li>Water soluble drawing materials (pastels, graphite pencils/sticks, pencil crayons)</li><li>Chalk pastels, oil pastels, crayons</li><li>Graphite pencils/sticks</li><li>Art sticks, pencil crayons</li><li>Sharpener for any materials that require that. </li></ul><h2>MY WORKSHOPS</h2><p>These workshops are a space for us to be together to process, express, integrate, rest up, share our faces and voices, and ground IN to ourselves and our collective strength. A space for us to refuel ourselves so that we can continue to move forward in this work of negotiating evermore creative ways to make the changes that we're wanting and needing.  </p><h2>HOW THEY WORK...</h2><ul><li>All of my current workshops are happening <strong>online only</strong>, on the Zoom platform. Once you've registered through Eventbrite you will receive all of the info that you’ll need to access the workshop on Zoom.</li><li>Groups are small (max 11 people) &amp; interactive. This means that everyone who attends is visible (via Zoom), and participates in the shared conversation &amp; art-making throughout each 2-hr workshop.</li><li>Workshops are for adults only (18+). </li><li>With all workshops happening online, this means that you will need to <strong>provide your own art materials</strong>. I list all req’d materials (and suggestions for alternatives) on the Eventbrite page, so please check that list BEFORE registering to be sure that you have what you’ll need to participate.</li><li><strong>PLEASE NOTE </strong>that my <strong>workshops will NOT be recorded</strong>. For reasons of confidentiality, privacy, and because we do share some personal stuff… I don’t record the sessions/workshops, and so recordings are not available as a resource to be sent to you later, or in instances of not being able to attend.</li><li>These groups are informal, chatty, and very much about sharing time and space ...stories, experiences, thoughts, frustrations, and what-have-you’s.</li></ul>

And while I am here for any technical assistance you may need, our goal is not to focus on technical skill…but instead on curiosity.</li></ul>
