Soft Pastels for Beginners
Join us in the studio as we explore portrait drawing and pastel technique. Beginner-friendly and a great refresher for practicing artists!
Welcome to **Soft Pastel for Beginners** at **Studio on the Farm**
Join us weekly on **Wednesday, March 4, 2026 - Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM** for our six-week course exploring portrait art in soft pastel. You don't have to come with any skills, just the desire to learn and to try! You'll be surprised by what you are capable of once you learn a little technique! This course is beginner-friendly and an excellent refresher for practicing artists looking to focus on their drawing skills.
In this course, we will learn both freehand drawing and helpful image transfer techniques. We will study 2 portraits, one of a person and one of an animal. You can choose your own references to work from, or follow along with the teaching references. It's totally up to you! I am happy to help guide you on choosing a reference and make suggestions on what would make a good composition for artwork.
Art supplies are not provided. I will email you a list of recommended supplies and where to find them, or you can purchase an art kit, and I'll be happy to provide you with artist-quality pastels, paper, and tools.
We hope you will join us for a deep dive into portraits and pastel!
