City of Port Alberni

The City of Port Alberni and ACRD are hosting an information workshop on Step Code changes. (Must register to qualify for CPD credits)

Tessa Hall, Energy Advisor will be presenting information to builders, trades, contractors, designers, engineers, and associated colleagues about the Energy Step Code; how to work with an energy advisor on testing and metrics; when testing needs to be done during the construction process; and Air Tightness testing with examples to achieve higher RSI wall assemblies. This workshop will be qualified for 1.5 CPD* credits. *First and Last name of each attendee must be registered to qualify for credits. Why is this session being hosted? The BC Energy Step Code is a performance-based standard, establishing measurable requirements for energy efficiency in new construction. To demonstrate compliance, builders must ensure that buildings meet or exceed a set of defined metrics for building components (e.g. building envelope, equipment and systems, and air tightness testing).In 2017, The Province of British Columbia established the Energy Step Code Council to support the successful implementation of the BC Energy Step Code. There are five steps to get to net zero ready buildings in 2032. The Building and Safety Standards Branch (BSSB) is proposing revisions to the BC Building Code 2018 . These include proposed changes to minimum energy efficiency requirements for most Part 9 and Part 3 buildings.This session will inform builders, trades, contractors, designers, engineers, and associated colleagues about the proposed changes to the BC Building Code.
