Event description

Description

Meteorologist Geoff Coulson, from Environment Canada trains volunteers on how to look for clues in the sky as to which storms may produce damaging weather. Our training covers the basics of thunderstorm formation, what differentiates a severe from a non-severe thunderstorm, the types of damage severe thunderstorms can produce, what to watch for in the sky, what to report to the Storm Prediction Centre and a series of safety tips.

After this training you can become a CANWARN volunteer to aid in, real-time, on-the-ground storm tracking.

Coffee, tea and water will be provided.

This event is hosted by your Emergency Preparedness and Health and Safety Committees.
