Do I need to bring a partner?

We will rotate partners throughout the beginner friendly dance classes, so you are welcome to attend solo. During the social, we encourage attendees to mingle and even if you come alone, you are sure to make some friends!

What’s the dress code?

You can choose to dress up or not, but make sure what you wear is comfortable enough to dance in (not too tight, not too short, not too warm, allows you to move your arms, hips, torso, and rest of the body easily, not a tripping hazard, etc.).

What kind of shoes should I wear?

Any clean pair of non-marking shoes that is comfortable and not grippy on the floor will work and given the nature of the event, flats are recommended (Fuego sneakers, Taygra sneakers, leather soled ballet flats, suede soled jazz shoes, Toms, etc.). No stilettos please! They damage the floor.

Is there a coat check available?

McKernan Community League has a designated area for outdoor shoes as well as a rack to hang your coats.

Where do I leave my valuables?

Dancers usually place their personal items such as purses on the chairs set-up against the wall. Please be aware that the event organizers, staff, and venue are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Where can I park?

McKernan Community League has a free parking lot next to the building and there is also lots of free street parking in the neighbourhood.

Our YEG Dancer Public Events Insider Facebook group has a listing of upcoming Latin dance events and we also use the YEG Dancer Instagram channel for more time sensitive announcements.
