Pauly will present a live multichannel work called HECAYODO (by Rosa Debe Cuidársele, a collaboration with Gabriel Montagné), which features the tender and heartrending efforts of a vintage AI to speak like Jorge Luis Borges. AboutMauricio Pauly is a Vancouver-based composer, improviser, and producer known for his hybrid instrumental/electronic chamber music. His music has been featured at major festivals such as Warsaw Autumn, Darmstadt, HCMF, Ultima Oslo, Modulus and Open Ears. Recent works include Hopeful Monster, an album of improvisations with Eve Egoyan and The Brutal Joy, a new piece made with Justine Chambers, James Proudfoot and Vanessa Kwan. Other notable projects include sound design for Athina Rachel Tsangari's LULU at the Salzburg Festival and for NiNi Dongnier’s Silent Flight at the Shanghai International Dance Centre. Mauricio is an Associate Professor at SFU. Originally from Costa Rica, his home and studio are now in Vancouver.--"Experiments in Live Spatialization" are informal gatherings centered around sonic exploration. Come and enjoy the space activated by artists adept at modulating the dimensions of Lobe’s system.
