TAKING A STEP FORWARD: Help raise awareness about the challenges faced by and the supports available for individuals dealing with violence

During the pandemic, domestic and gender-based violence reports increased by 20 to 30 percent and crisis calls by 400 percent in some Canadian regions. Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA) has also experienced a 50% increase in the number of clients dealing with family violence issues. Between November 14th &amp; 20th, join CIWA&#x27;s #TakingAStepForward virtual walkathon initiative to tackle the increased volume of incidences and need for support. This event encourages individuals to help raise awareness about the community services that help victims and survivors of crime, and their families. Virtual Walkathon Instructions: <ol><li> REGISTER by November 17th (Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/taking-a-step-forward-virtual-walkathon-tickets-200377433297)</li><li>PICK UP YOUR SWAG From November 15th &amp; 17th, pick up a free swag before your walkathon. Pick up locations will be emailed to participants upon registration.</li><li>TAKE A WALK ANYWHERE! The location/site of walk is your choice.</li><li>POST YOUR WALK Post a photo of you with your swag on your social media; use #TakingAStepForward; tag CIWA using the handles below; and tag an organization that you know help victims and survivors of crime.</li></ol>Let&#x27;s come together as a community.
