In astrophysics, an array is a group of satellites and telescopes that can be trained on a single phenomena to provide a more detailed, nuanced, and multi-dimensional understanding of the subject than could be gained by a single instrument. The Array proposes artists as telescopes. The Array: First Contact was presented online in December 2020 with House of Rice, Hunters, Tricksters &amp; Mystics, Popcorn Galaxies, and rice &amp; beans theatre. The Array: The Shape of the Galaxy was presented at The Greenhouse in November 2019 with Elysse Cleadle, Erika Mitsuhashi and Francesca Frewer, Theatre Conspiracy and Upintheair Theatre. The Array: Beyond the Knowledge of Humankind was presented at The WhatLab in December 2022. For 2023, we present The Array: An Exquisitely Sensitive Machine, r eferencing the amazingly redefining discoveries of the James Webb telescope launched in December of 2021. This high tech, earth orbiting instrument has shifted our collective view of the cosmos, allowing us to peer back in time when the universe was still in its infancy. This creation is a triumph of human knowledge, intelligence and exploration.The Array will showcase performances that delve into the work of mankind to expand our reach and understanding of the universe through technology.
