The Butterfly Effect

Helix Dance Theatre is a pre-professional dance company operating as a non-profit society in the province of British Columbia. The company brings dancers together from numerous studios on mid Vancouver Island to create a pre-professional training environment.  Helix is currently celebrating their 10th season.Artistically, the company’s goal is to create work that demonstrates an elevated technical and artistic calibre, taking dance to a level above competitive-based performances. They work in an environment where the development and refinement of technical ability is the foundation for further exploration and artistic achievement.   These dancers benefit from working and collaborating with a variety of professional artists brought in especially to work with the company.  Dance members travel from the Comox Valley, Salt Spring Island, Qualicum Beach, Parksville, Port Alberni, Ladysmith, Duncan & Nanaimo to take part.With a strong emphasis on classical ballet technique, using contemporary, modern and stylized jazz; Helix creates unique choreographic works, showcasing the talents of gifted young dancers.  The goal is to foster dance within our communities while inspiring those dancers who may be interested in pursuing dance at the post-secondary level.Artistic Director & Founder~Sarah DeVitoCompany Manager~Deena Carl
