The Inquiring Mind Training

TFEL is a partnership project that aims to better prepare the next generation of social workers in Canada by creating training and mentoring opportunities for students, developing and mobilizing innovative and promising field education practices, and improving the integration of research and practice in field education.

Transforming the Field Education Landscape

Join TFEL for The Inquiring Mind, a multi-session mental health training for post-secondary students.

Please note: This training takes place over two weeks, on both Thursday, March 31 and Thursday, April 7, 2022. The sessions begin at 10:00 am MST and end at 12:00 pm MST. You must attend both sessions to receive a certificate of completion.The Inquiring Mind is a training for post-secondary students that is designed to address and promote mental health and reduce stigma. In this training, participants will: <ul><li>Increase their understanding of mental health, declining mental health, and mental illness </li><li>Learn the Mental Health Continuum Model and use this to identify signs of declining mental health in themselves and others </li><li>Hear lived experiences through videos of students sharing stories related their mental health journey </li><li>Learn evidence-based coping strategies to maintain mental health and improve resilience </li><li>Explore ways to reduce stigma and foster a supportive campus community</li><li>Apply the skills they are learning by working through group activities involving case studies </li></ul>This training is facilitated by Student Wellness Services. Both sessions are required to complete training. Upon completion of this training, participants will receive a certificate from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
