The Rideau Roundtable is an incorporated not-for-profit association of individuals, community organizations and government agencies working together to keep the Rideau and Cataraqui Watersheds from Ottawa to Kingston healthy - socially, economically and environmentally.

Smiths Falls Bascule Bridge

What awaits you during The Paddle?<ul><li>Canoe through a protected wetland on the Rideau River</li><li>Learn about the beautiful nature that surrounds us, along with some of the area’s special features</li><li>Discover how each of these natural features benefit us in our daily lives, as we explore our interconnection with the local rivers and the natural world</li><li>Give back to the river with a collective shoreline clean-up effort which will take place throughout the tour as we find spots on the river with plastic pollution</li><li>Engage in water testing to help scientific research on water quality &amp; learn how we can help</li><li>Participate in discussions with valuable insights into Lokaa Foundation’s approach to sustainability and nature connection</li><li>Experience moments of tranquility with brief meditations guiding us deeper into connection with nature</li><li>Learn about the canoes we are using and the Rideau Canal system we are travelling through</li></ul> Registration<ul><li>Early registration until Sep 7: $40 per person plus eventbrite fees</li><li>General admission: $50 plus eventbrite fees</li><li>Reservation on a first-come first-served basis due to limited capacity</li></ul> Who can attend?<ul><li>Ages 13-35 (Exceptions can be made on request)</li><li>Those willing to paddle in a big canoe for around 4 hours (it's easier than it sounds)</li></ul> Food<ul><li>Bring your own lunch</li><li>At the end of the day at around 6:30 pm we will walk somewhere to have dinner together, restaurant is TBD, anyone who wants to join is welcome, buying your own dinner</li></ul> Other details<ul><li>Event moves forward rain or shine - even with a chance of thunderstorms in the forecast! Come prepared with your rain gear</li><li>Free parking is available at the Bascule Bridge parking lot</li></ul>
