Do I need any prior experience with gardening, permaculture, or design?

Accepted Answer

No. The Workshop isdesigned for people at all stages, including complete beginners. Everything starts from common sense and basic life principles and builds naturally... no jargon, no assumed background, and no expectation that you are a designer or green thumb.

Is this about gardening, sustainability, or something else?

Accepted Answer

It’s broader than any single category. The work is about understanding living systems and learning how to work with them. For most, that shows up as food, DIY landscaping, a lifestyle closer to nature, or improved home decision‑making (ex. home purchasing, home improvement).

What will I actually leave the Workshop with?

Accepted Answer

A clear plan for your property, a hand‑drawn design you created during the weekend, and a much stronger sense of what to do first and what can wait. Also: fewer second‑guessing spirals. Those tend to fade quickly.

Is the Workshop hands‑on physical labor?

No. There will be no surprise shovels. ?
This is a design and decision‑making weekend focused on a blend of knowledge, wisdom, and reskilling. You will experience hands-on mapping, basic life design, and strategic sequencing, so whatever you choose to create actually pays off.

What if I don’t own land or have a big yard?

Accepted Answer

You don’t need acreage. The principles apply to small yards, suburban lots, and even shared or future properties. Many participants attend to design a place they plan to move to or steward later.

Question 6

How many people are in the Workshop?

Accepted Answer

Workshops are limited to 20 participants per city. This keeps the experience personal, focused, and allows for meaningful guidance throughout the weekend. Once a city fills, registration closes.

Question 7

Is this the same content I can find online or in a course?

Accepted Answer

No. This is a live, in‑person experience centered on your land and your context. The Workshop also includes access to the ASA course as ongoing support, but the weekend itself is about applied understanding, not passive learning.

Question 8

What if I already garden or have some experience?

Accepted Answer

Some people who attend are expert gardeners (others who come kill Spiderplants). 
People come because they want better structure, new skills and inspiration, and fewer “Why did I do that?” moments six months later.

What happens after the Workshop?

You don’t leave with just a plan and a pat on the back...
You get to continue learning and get ongoing support with access to the ASA course and monthly community calls. We will also have opportunities for informal connections with others from your city who are walking a similar path. Make new local

What should I bring?

A notebook, something to write with, and any maps you already have of your property. 
Curiosity helps too. Everything else is optional. (Except pants.)

The Talk is often the best place to start. It gives you a clear feel for the ideas, the tone, and the way this work is approached.

What is your refund policy?

Accepted Answer

You can get a full refund (minus EventBrite charge) up to 14 days before the event. Non-refundable after that.
