Surfrider VI is thrilled to present an evening with Cristina Mittermeier: “The Water’s Edge” - stories of expeditions that span 100 countries on every continent. Cristina Mittermeier will share first hand-experiences with the last true “ice hunters” from the North, the artisanal fisherman of Brazil, life with traditional cultures of Tibet and Papa New Guinea, the Spirit Bears of the Great Bear Rainforest and the inhabitants of the Salish Sea - both above and below the surface, always returning to the Water’s Edge.  Bio: Cristina is a Mexican-born marine biologist and ethnographic photographer who specializes in conservation issues surrounding the ocean and indigenous cultures. As a writer and a photographer for the past 25 years, her work centers on the delicate balance between human well-being and healthy ecosystems.  Photographer, conservationist, diver, writer and public speaker, Cristina Mittermeier uses her camera to document the intersection of wild nature and humans and the importance of a healthy eco-system, both above and below the surface.
