Truth in Performance Comedy Fundraiser

Ottawa's new home for improv and sketch comedy.

The Improv Embassy

<A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/cokoanddaphney/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Coko & Daphney</A>, one of the stars of the sold-out 2016 Ottawa Improv Festival (plus fests in New York City, Toronto, Philadelphia and more!), are back and headlining a special comedy fundraiser to support comedians with underrepresented voices. TRUTH IN PERFORMANCE (doors at 7:30 pm, show at 8 pm) also features the hilarious standups: LAURA McLEAN, TASH NAVED and SHELINA MERANI! Plus:
Don Kelly, a veteran standup who has appeared on TV specials on CBC, CTV and APTN. <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/Kinseyfail/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Kinsey Fail</A>, a fantastic team of LGTBQ+ improvisers from Toronto's Bad Dog Theatre; and a cast from <A HREF="https://www.facebook.com/improvembassy/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Improv Embassy</A>, an Ottawa non-profit school and theatre that aims to grow the city's comedy community. Show tickets are available at a sliding scale from $15 to $25. Some complimentary tickets will be available for those with financial barriers; please contact us at info@improvembassy.com to reserve. Proceeds from the show will go to The Improv Embassy's inclusion program, which provides free training and opportunities to emerging comedians from underrepresented groups. BUT THERE'S MORE! Come at 5 p.m. for a panel with members of Ottawa's theatre, standup and improv communities for a discussion on creating an inclusive comedy scene. We look forward to your questions and participation. During the day, our out-of-town performers will be teaching affordable workshops to grow your comedy and storytelling skills.
