And the first stop of the tour is at University of Ottawa LabO Theatre. About the ArtistThe multifaceted Gioia De Cari is a transformative artist and "recovering mathematician" who has made significant contributions in theater and classical music through her focus on the synergy between science and the arts. She is creator of the critically-acclaimed award-winning play Truth Values, which has been embraced as a conversation catalyst on important issues of unconscious bias in science, technology, engineering and mathematics throughout the United States.

"This play resonated with me: I, too, was a PhD student at MIT, a few years later. It made me think more about how much small interactions with your peers and professors – good ones, and bad ones – buffet you in life. I absolutely identified with Gioia’s resilience and spark in the face of the bad, and loved and envied her fun outrageousness."- Monica Nevins, professor at University of Ottawa Department of Mathematics and Statistics

"I’m overjoyed to be working with the University of Ottawa colleagues for a tour to Ottawa this coming September! This also marks the very first time I’ve had the opportunity to take my popular show Truth Values across the border. For years I’ve received emails asking if I will be coming to Canada, and now I can answer with an enthusiastic 'Yes!'."- Gioia De Cari, the artist & creator of Truth Values
