Do you build, craft, invent, hack, create, teach, or make? Registration to participate in the Haliburton County Public Library's Try-It Fair on Friday December 9th, 2016 is now open!

The Haliburton County Public Library's Try-It Fair is a trade show style event that brings together artists, inventors, technical wizards, business people and makers of all kinds for an exciting afternoon of sharing skills and knowledge, exhibiting projects, inspiring each other, networking with skills seekers, and building community.

Your exhibit can be a skill or activity you’d like to share, a hands-on presentation of something that you designed and built, a work in progress, or an interactive demonstration of how an object or system works. Here are just some of the topics that we’re looking for...

Is the Haliburton County Public Library's Try It Fair free for exhibitors and attendees?

Yes the Try It Fair is free for exhibitors and attendees, due to the generous sponsorship of the Haliburton County Development Corporation and our partners: CANOE FM, Contact North, Fleming Crew, Haliburton Chamber of Commerce, Haliburton County Public Library, Haliburton Highlands Museum, Haliburton Highlands Secondary School, Haliburton School of Art and Design, Sticks + Stones Productions

Who will attend the event?

Secondary school students and teachers will attend from 2-3:30 pm. There will be a short 30 min. break during which exhibitors can network with each other and then the Try It Fair will re-open to the General Public from 4-6 pm.

How will the Try It Fair be advertised?

Try It Fair will be marketed through CANOE FM, local newspapers, posters, signage, website, social media, and partner networks.

Can I advertise my products and services at the Try It Fair?

You are encouraged to submit a photo and a short paragraph about your business or organization and we will promote you for free on social media. To maintain the "Try It" spirit of the fair, exhibitors may advertise (i.e. business cards and brochures), but they may not sell any products or services on-site.

Is there parking?

There is parking available for exhibitors directly behind the high school gymnasium. By 4 pm (after the schoolbuses leave), there will be plenty of additional parking available to members of the public.

Is there electricity?

Yes, there are 110 volt electricity outlets evenly spaced along all four walls of the gymnasium. Bring your own extension cord. Higher electrical loads or 220 volt electricity can be arranged with prior notification.

Is there wifi?

Wifi access is limited and is password protected. It must be requested prior to the event and will be approved on a case-by-case basis.

Are tables and chairs provided?

Yes, one 6' table and 2 chairs are provided per exhibitor, unless otherwise requested. All you need are your own banners, promotional materials, extension cord and "Try It" items.
